“The husband is the head of the wife.” That is a sentence that can evoke strong reactions, especially today. What does it mean that the husband is the head of the wife? How one interprets this verse and other related verses can have significant impact on ones ideas about marriage.
God’s word reveals to us that He values humility. He calls us to it and His Son embodied the greatest demonstration of it. Since Jesus humbled Himself as He did, we should not find it distasteful to do the same. Let’s embrace it and seek to walk humbly in our marriages to the glory of God.

In my post God-Fashioned Living I mentioned that there are obstacles that can interfere with submission. Some come from the world around us and some come from within us. Not every wife will experience the same obstacles, but I think it’s safe to say that we all face them.
